Continuing to Meet Virtually Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic
The club continued to meet online via videoconference for the majority of the year due to restrictions on non-essential gatherings and indoor dining.
Virtual International Installation
We held our Installation of Officers and Induction of New Members virtually, jointly across three time zones and countries, presided by Lions Clubs International 2nd Vice President Brian Sheehan of Minnesota, and with the San Francisco Nueva Vizcaya Lions Club, the Nueva Vizcaya Tribu Vizcayano Lions Club in District 301-C, three clubs from District A-711 in Canada, and two Leos Clubs from our District in participation.
Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinics
Our annual series Health Fairs in the various churches and community centers around San Francisco and San Mateo Counties was not feasible due to government shelter-in-place health orders, however, a solution was found in the form of a Drive Thru Flu Shot clinic on the premise of Samaritan House in San Mateo, in partnership with the Global Initiative for Health and Wellness and the San Francisco Host Lions Club.
Endorsement and Election of Lion Dr. Jun for District Governor
January 1, 2021: Endorsement letter of 1VDG Dr. Jun Valera's candidacy for District Governor submitted to the District and disseminated to all clubs
May 16, 2021: Election results announced at District 4-C4 Convention (virtual), making Lion Dr. Jun our first District Governor in our club's history
June 29, 2021: DGE Dr. Jun is installed at the 103rd International Convention (virtual) by International President Douglas Alexander of New York
First In Person Meeting Since the Pandemic Began
For the final meeting of the year, we held our first in-person meeting at Chevys Restaurant in South San Francisco on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, which was the exact date of our 50th Charter Anniversary.
